The Wage Project: Among other interesting news and advice concerning the wage gap, this site has a very informative “wage gap calculator” in which you can enter pertinent details and find out comparative data regarding your wages. "Gender Class Action Settlement With Morgan Stanley Announced Today." The settlement is valued at over $70 million, with an immediate lump sum payment of $46 million. The lawsuit focuses on gender inequity in the distribution of accounts and other business opportunities. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of 2700 female Financial Advisors and Registered Financial Advisor Trainees employed by Morgan Stanley at any time since August 5, 2003. This is one of the ten largest monetary awards in a gender discrimination settlements in U.S. history. Click here for the article and webpage. American women earn substantially more money and narrow the long-standing gender gap in income if other women in their workplaces reach the ranks of senior management, according to a new national study presented here. From the Ethical Corporation website: The market for ethical consumerism has been growing at 14% per annum, with the latest Ethical Purchasing Index produced by Cooperative Bank valuing the market at $34 billion. A 2004 Catalyst study showed companies with the hightest representation of women at the top management deliver 35.1 % higher return on equity and higher total return to shareholders than companies with the lowest representation.
